Haviland Club Open Mic Features John Smith, PEI's First Poet Laureate, June 10th

Poet Laureate Dianne Hicks Morrow invites readers and listeners to the special Open Mic event, on Tuesday, June 10, from 7-9 p.m. in the Haviland Club’s Great Room.

The featured reader will be none other than PEI’s first poet laureate, John Smith, professor emeritus of English at UPEI. He is the author of seven books of poetry and is renowned for his dramatic poetry readings.

He has titled this reading Pocket Poems Revisited: Put these in your pocket: a presentation of little poems with big things to say, from Shakespeare to now.

Everyone is welcome. Readers can sign up at 7 p.m. to read their own poetry or prose, anywhere from three to five minutes. John Smith will read at 7 p.m. with the open mic after intermission.

This will be the final Open Mic until fall. Admission is free or by donation. Please contact Dianne at peipoetlaureate@gmail.com with any questions.
